Wantrepreneur: someone who wants to start a business and thinks and talks about doing so, but never gets started.

Hi there, my name is Andrew. Do you have one of those friends who always tells you about their new app idea that’s going to change the world, but never actually builds it?
I am one of those friends.
Rather than be ashamed about it, I believe publicly sharing my story will motivate me, and maybe others, to shake the off the non-action and get something started.
I started this blog to document my quest to start a business that I can be proud of. Hopefully you enjoy it, and if you share similar frustrations, you’ve found someone you can relate to.
I’ll also share my thoughts on tech industry news and products from time to time.
Happy reading,
Andrew

I’ve worked in tech on cool products for over 10 years, at some big companies and some small ones. Mostly big ones.
My side hustle journey started in 2013, where I built an app and released it for the BlackBerry 10 operating system. I was an intern at BlackBerry and my project started out in an internal hackathon.
It was a guitar lesson app called GuitarBox, and was even featured by the CrackBerry blog. It was the only custom made guitar lesson app for the BlackBerry at the time, so it enjoyed some time on the front page of the app store.
It ended up getting 80,000+ downloads with no marketing whatsoever, and I put out an update for a paid second set of lessons. It made a couple hundred dollars over the next few years, but I was never motivated to update it.
I could have worked harder on it, but I could see the BlackBerry OS wasn’t going anywhere and I felt the other platforms were too saturated. It was a good lesson that penetrating a small market is easier than a larger one. Thus ended my entrepreneurial journey.
Until today… as I hope to return to my entrepreneurial glory. Wish me luck!
